In the 2015 release of Microsoft Dynamics GP user license options were redesigned to help GP users streamline roles and responsibilities and reduce departmental costs.
So instead of the one-license-for-all model, you can now choose from different 3 tiers.
Why are we telling you now?
Well, it seems many Microsoft Dynamics GP customers are still a little in the dark and are missing out on ways to reduce costs by adjusting licenses accordingly.
Each Client Access License (œCAL) has different levels of access, capabilities and privileges, which is packaged up for you in the list below.
Option one:
FULL CONCURRENT CAL
Full Concurrent CALs provide users with full read and write capabilities to all of the licensed solution functionality through any and all modes of access. This includes the Windows Client, the Web Client, the Microsoft SharePoint Client, or any other mode of access going through the API (including Web Services).
Option two:
LIMITED CONCURRENT CAL
Limited Concurrent CALs provide users full read but restricted, yet powerful, write capabilities to all of the licensed solution functionality (subject to some limitations) through any and all modes of access. Again, this includes the Windows and Web Clients. The Limited User license is designed to give you a lower-cost alternative for extending ERP to users that only need to perform limited tasks as defined in the Licensing Guide.
Option three:
SELF-SERVE USER CAL
Self-serve User CALs provide access to users that only need to view and modify their own employment data and make purchase requests for their own supplies. Self-serve CALs are licensed per individual and are not concurrent.
The Self-serve User is only available for Microsoft Dynamics GP using the Perpetual Licensing model.
So, before any upcoming upgrades or a new system implementation, you can now categorise your existing user-base into the three lists, ensuring you are maximising your budget.
